  • Shave me bald for Max's FIGHT against cancer!

Our hero and close family friend, Max Switzer, had a cancerous tumor removed from his brain a few weeks ago. Max turned 9...just this past weekend. He has been an absolute stud through all of the surgeries, poking and prodding, and hospital food. He started targeted radiation treatments two weeks ago and will begin chemotherapy in another four weeks, or so.
Even though this seems tragic, unfair, heartbreaking—pick your word—there have been many miracles evident in his diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing recovery that have blessed Max and his family. Please read Max’s story here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/maxswitzer
On Saturday, February 25, we are having a fundraiser for Max. The great thing is that you need not be present to participate. Steven King, the owner of Eurocuts in Portland, is donating all hair cutting and styling proceeds to Max’s family to help defray mounting medical costs.
In line with Steve’s efforts, I am giving all those that hate my hair and all those who love a good cause (that should be about all of America, don’t you think?) an opportunity to feed their needs. I am hoping to raise at least $500 for Max. I can get 20 ponytails in my locks. For your donation of at least $20, you can get your frustrations out by taking a lock of my famous prematurely gray hair. Out-of-towners and those unable to be physically present can have a proxy do the deed. Here’s how I’ve broken it down:
$20 (or more☺) per ponytail cut by you or a proxy.
$20 (or more☺) a shave, front to back—after the ponytails are gone—by you or a proxy.
$30 (or more☺) per ponytail cut by our hero and idol, Max Switzer. Includes the lock of hair, and a
certificate of authenticity signed by Max and me.
    OR
$500 for my whole head—cut it and style it (you or a proxy) however you want; take pictures; post them on Facebook, Twitter, billboards, milk cartons, whatever; then shave my head. Should this option be chosen, I will notify all other donors regarding the disposition of their donation.
    THE DETAILS:
February 25, 2012 from 12-1pm at Eurocuts (230 SW Jefferson St., Portland 97201). See http://eurocutspdx.com/location/ for map and parking details. A donation site has been set up here: http://www.everribbon.com/ribbon/view/5028, or you can bring your donation to the salon on Saturday. Either way, please email me directly (goodmojo@frontier.com) with what you have donated, what it covers, and if you want/need a proxy, etc., as all donations on the site are anonymous. This way I will be able to organize the day and track who is going to be hacking me.
DONATIONS FOR THIS EVENT ARE DUE BY 11:50PM on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2012. However, donations of any size are ALWAYS welcome at any time!
